Butt Implants

What are Butt Implants?

Having a flat butt can cause you to look top-heavy and disproportionate; creating more fullness in the lower body can make your figure look more balanced. Many men and women desire fuller, curvier buttocks to improve their appearance and boost their confidence. Butt implants can reshape and augment the buttocks to produce a shapelier derrière. Dr. Constantino Mendieta performs several procedures, including butt implant surgery, that enhance the backside to create more balanced proportions.

Ideal Candidates

Those who seek to enhance their figure by adding volume and sensuous curvature to their buttocks may want to consider butt implant surgery. Ideal candidates for butt implants should be in good health and can relate to some or all of the following concerns:

  • Flat or disproportionately small bottom
  • Shapeless buttocks
  • Insufficient body fat for a Brazilian Butt Lift

Butt Implant Options

Butt implant surgery is an outpatient procedure typically performed using local anesthesia. Depending on the technique used and whether it is combined with other surgical procedures, the surgery can take between two and three hours. Although this operation is relatively straightforward, there are many options to customize it to your individual gluteal anatomy and aesthetic goals.

  • Implant Qualities

Dr. Mendieta prefers using round, smooth, solid silicone implants, but they are available in various forms, including:

    • Shape: round or oval
    • Filling: cohesive silicone or solid silicone
    • Surface: smooth or textured
  • Incision Location

Where the butt implant incisions are created varies from patient to patient. Dr. Mendieta will evaluate your condition and desires during your consultation and decide on the most appropriate incision placement tailored to your needs. Butt implant incisions can be placed in any of the following locations:

    • Along the upper portion of each buttock
    • Along each lower gluteal crease

You can expect some bruising and swelling after your procedure. It may also be uncomfortable to sit after butt implant surgery, so you must use a pillow when sitting for the first two weeks of recovery. Any discomfort can be managed with prescribed pain medicine, which should be filled before your scheduled operation. Depending on the physical demands of the job, most patients may go back to work two to three weeks after surgery. Patients are also required to wear a supportive compression garment for two to three weeks.

It is recommended to refrain from exercising for at least eight weeks after surgery to avoid complications. Dr. Mendieta will provide you with detailed postoperative instructions during your butt implant surgery consultation.

You should be able to see a noticeable improvement in the size and shape of your buttocks immediately following butt implant surgery. However, it takes between three and four months for the swelling to resolve and reveal the final results. The effects of butt implant surgery are considered permanent when performed by a surgeon who is experienced in the procedure. Over time, an enhanced butt is susceptible to the natural aging process. Butt implants do not need to be replaced unless there is a complication.
